It might seem like a mammoth task, so we’d recommend completing one room per week. Here are some tips for getting started on those key areas:

Discard old cleaning products

Completing a stocktake of your household cleaning products is an often-overlooked part of the whole process. These can accumulate over years, so it’s important make sure you’re still using products that work, while decluttering at the same time. Check the use by dates and discard any cleaning agents that have expired.

Avoid contamination and minimise waste by assigning washable, colour-coded microfibre cloths to each room, like pink for the kitchen and green for the bathroom.

Kitchen

Shine up the bathroom mirror with a dry paper towel and glass cleaner. Sweep and mop the floors. Finally, give your toilet a deep clean by soaking the inside with bleach and using a surface cleaner to wipe down the external surface.

Laundry

Spray and wipe down your benches and the exterior of your washer and dryer. Remove the filters and soak in warm, soapy water for 10 minutes.
